family fun on the gold coast

School’s almost out! Kids love nothing more than the school holidays and there’s no reason why the whole family shouldn’t make the most of the break. A weekend (or an entire week!) on the Gold Coast is quite a plan. There are plenty of things to do and even more to see. From exploring natural attractions to enjoying out-of-this-world entertainment, families will never run out of fun activities to do during the school holidays on the Gold Coast.

Hike at Mount Tamborine

Let’s start with five activities you can enjoy for free. First up is hiking at Mount Tamborine. Less than an hour’s drive from Surfers Paradise, this natural attraction offers several hinterland hikes that will give amazing views of lush greeneries and spectacular waterfalls. While you’re there, go ahead and brave the Tamborine Rainforest Walk, a track 30 metres above Tambourine’s rainforest.

Have a Picnic

A picnic is a great way to bond with the kids and there are plenty of places on the Gold Coast where you can sit down and enjoy a picnic spread. There’s the Burleigh Heads National Park that gives an awesome hill-side view of the beach; the Cascade Gardens at Broadbeach, a serene riverside sanctuary; the Gold Coast Botanical Gardens, an awesome destination for garden and nature lovers; and Macintosh Island in Surfers Paradise, tranquil home to a variety of bird species.
